Burlingame Fire (2008)

Burlingame Fire

50.5 X 39.5

Machine pieced, machine quilted. Commercially printed cotton fabrics,
various threads.

In the spring of 2007 the historic town of Burlingame, KS. on the Santa Fe Trail, suffered a tragic fire that ended the existance of one of it's oldest structures. The fire was only a few doors down from one of my favorite quilt shops, but everything was successfully evacuated and the shop eventually was able to reopen.

This piece was inspired by a photograph taken by the fire department on that day and was used with permission of the photographer, Keri A. Welch.
