Konza Prairie Spring (2013)

Konza Prairie Spring

53.5 x 23.75

Another work for the Inspirations exhibit, this time pairing with a different photographer, Charles Benton. I love his shot of a doe and fawn taken in the Konza Prairie Biological Station, an 8,600 acre presereve owned by the Nature Conservancy and Kansas State University. The grasslands of North America are among the most endangered ecosystems on this continent. Less than 4% of the native tall grass prairie remains unplowed or undeveloped.  In Kansas we really do have pink grass and I was lucky enough to have the perfect fabric to portray it!

Machine Pieced, Machine Quilted. 100% cotton Commercial Prints and various threads.
